Privacy Policy
Welcome to ionifyx.com (the “Website”), a physics blog where we publish articles, tutorials, and discussions about the universe. Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights — especially regarding cookies, analytics, and third-party advertising (including Google AdSense).
This policy applies exclusively to ionifyx.com. By using this site, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only minimal personal data necessary for a blog. This includes:
- Information you voluntarily provide — when you leave a comment, fill out a contact form, or subscribe to any future newsletter (if enabled). This may include your name, email address, and the content of your message.
- Automatically collected data — when you visit ionifyx.com, we (and our third-party partners) may collect: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages visited, date/time stamps, and device identifiers. This is done via cookies, log files, and analytics tools.
- Comment metadata — if you leave a comment, your name, Gravatar (if connected), and the comment itself are stored. Your email is used only for moderation and potential follow-up (we never sell or share it).
2. Contact Forms & Comments
ionifyx.com is a blog — not a store. We do not process payments, sell products, or require account registration for purchases.
- Contact forms: When you use our contact form (e.g., to ask a physics question or report an issue), we receive your name, email, and message. We use this solely to respond to your inquiry. We retain contact form submissions for customer service purposes, but we never use them for marketing without your explicit consent.
- Comments: Visitors may leave comments on blog posts. We collect the data shown in the comments form (name, email, website — optional), your IP address, and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email (hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to show your profile picture if you have one. After approval, your comment and profile picture are publicly visible. We moderate comments to maintain a respectful community.
We do not share your contact or comment data with third parties except as required by law or for spam filtering (e.g., Akismet).
3. Cookies
Like most websites, ionifyx.com uses cookies and similar tracking technologies. Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use them for:
- Essential / functional cookies — to remember your comment preferences, load balancing, and basic site security.
- Analytics cookies — to understand how visitors interact with our physics articles (pages visited, time on site, scroll depth). We use Google Analytics (and possibly other analytics) with anonymized IPs.
- Advertising cookies — see Section 4 below.
- Comment cookies — if you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies. These last for one year for your convenience.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect site functionality (e.g., comments may not work smoothly).
4. Third-Party Advertising & Personalized Ads
ionifyx.com may display advertisements via Google AdSense and other ad networks. These third-party vendors use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other sites across the internet.
How ads use cookies / device identifiers:
- Google and its partners use cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) to serve relevant ads, limit ad frequency, and measure ad performance.
- These cookies collect information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and interactions with ads.
- You may see personalized ads based on your browsing behavior and interests. If you prefer not to receive personalized ads, you can opt out via the links below.
Opt-Out Options
- Google Ads Settings: Visit adssettings.google.com to manage or disable personalized advertising from Google.
- AboutAds.info / YourAdChoices: Visit youradchoices.com/control to opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies (Digital Advertising Alliance).
- Network Advertising Initiative (NAI): Opt out at optout.networkadvertising.org.
- You can also reset your advertising ID on mobile devices (iOS/Android) or disable cookies entirely in your browser.
Even if you opt out of personalized ads, you may still see generic (non-personalized) ads on ionifyx.com.
5. Analytics
We use Google Analytics (and potentially other analytics services) to understand how readers find and engage with our physics content. Analytics data is aggregated and anonymized where possible. Google Analytics uses cookies to track user behavior. You can learn more about Google’s data practices at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
To opt out of Google Analytics, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
6. Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on ionifyx.com may include embedded content (e.g., YouTube videos, tweets, physics simulations from third-party sites). Embedded content behaves exactly as if you visited the external website. Those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content — including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that site. We have no control over their data practices.
7. Data Sharing & Retention
- We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing without your consent.
- We may share aggregated, anonymized data (e.g., “2,000 readers visited the quantum mechanics article”) with partners or the public.
- We may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our policies, or to protect our rights.
- Retention: Comment data and contact form submissions are retained indefinitely for editorial purposes (you can request deletion — see Section 9). Analytics data is retained for 26 months. Advertising cookies expire according to each vendor’s policy (typically 30 days to 2 years).
8. Children’s Privacy
ionifyx.com is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
